Right now, the snow on which our entire mountain community stands is in danger of
disappearing. Global forecasts predict that increased CO 2 emissions and a rapidly heating planet
will result in warmer weather… especially in winter. As a result, we will see — no, we are
already seeing — a systematic loss of snowpack at lower elevations.
If we skiers fail to address the environmental threat to our way of life, then we are contributing
to the demise of skiing. We’re part of the problem.
Launched this summer on our website, skipressworld.com, Pure Snow is our way of honoring
the individuals and organizations who help ensure the future of our sport and our planet. To
date, Movement Skis’ sustainable ski-production practices, Jiminy Peak’s $3.9-million wind
turbine, and the ski fl ick Weather We Change are among those honored.

CURIOUS PETE ASKS,
“WHAT’S THE BEST PART OF SKI TESTING?”
Other than the beautiful blue skies, the bountiful
spring snowpack that closed out the season at Whistler
and the annual energy explosion surrounding the offi -
cial introduction of next year’s new gear, Curious Pete
wanted to know what Ski Press’ crack team of testers
thought was the best part of ski testing.

Michelle Ruddell
Richard “The Rocket”
Allison Twiss
“Isn’t it obvious?”
Chad Hendren
“It’s a privilege to ski all the
new gear. And as a skier you
get to experience what types
of skis really suit your style
and can improve your skiing.”
“Skiing.”
“There’s nothing better than
checking out all of next year’s
gear with all your friends.”
“It’s just a great vibe hanging
out with all the testers.”
